intro         = 'The 52mm Raynox dcr6600 .66x wa lens works very nicely with the Panasonic DMC-FZ5 if the plastic FZ5 adapter is shortened to place the dcr6600 closer to the FZ5 lens.  The FZ5 adapter has 55mm threads and requires a 55mm-52mm step down ring which adds another 3-4mm to that distance.  Eliminating the need for that step ring is essential.  The Raynox rt5264p aluminum tube adapter slides very tightly over the FZ5 adapter and has 52mm threads.  The procedure for that modification is shown at http://www.ishots.net/fz5/modified_fz5_adapter.htm <br>A simpler modification - but one that places the dcr6600 about 2mm further from the FZ5 lens - is the insertion of a 52mm uv filter (or any 52mm filter) with the glass removed into the front of the FZ5 adapter.  Removal of 2mm of plastic from the front of the FZ5 adapter by rubbing against fine grit (#100) sandpaper on a hard flat horizontal surface will get the front of the 52mm filter casing flush with the front of the FZ5 adapter. Removing the 2mm from the adapter front does not damage the lens hood channels.  The lens hood will still connect.  The 52mm filter can be secured in the adapter with silicone glue or by wrapping a thin strip of electrical tape around the outside of the filter to increase the outside diameter of the filter casing enough to get a tight pressure fit into the FZ5 adapter. Depending on the filter casing, you may need to file down some of the aluminum in the interior of the filter between the male and female threads so that the FZ5 lens will extend freely.  With the glass removed from the filter it should slide easily over the front portion of the lens housing.  A curved metal file removes that little bit of aluminum pretty easily.<br>';
